A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of playing for Frank & Kate Hummel’s wedding ceremony and reception at Herman & Luther’s in Montoursville, PA. Frank and Kate had reached out to me a few months ago wanting to create a wonderful event that would satisfy their wide age range of guests.
One of the unique features of Herman & Luther’s is the outdoor scenery surrounding the barn. It creates a beautiful backdrop for any outdoor ceremony. However, one of the big issues with any outdoor ceremony is that it can be hard for your guests to hear. Frank & Kate had a string quartet from Lycoming College play for their ceremony but opted to use my lapel mics so that everyone who was speaking could be heard perfectly.
I love the idea that Frank and Kate used for the cocktail hour. Herman & Luther’s has an outdoor kitchen and patio area, so they brought a bunch of lawn games, including a large Jenga game. It allowed everyone to mingle and have a good time with a very relaxed outdoor picnic type of vibe.
Extra special touches
In addition to the cool elements outside, Frank & Kate also wanted to have the party inside truly represent them. To help with that, we used 2 TV screens (one upstairs and one down) to show pictures of the two of them, from the time they were children up through their life, and then including pictures from their time dating. They also wanted to add in a photo booth to create some very unique memories of the event. There is something about hopping into a photo booth that causes people to just let loose and be goofy. Their guests definitely had fun with that. This was our first chance to bring out the enclosed version of our photo booth. Most people have been opting to use the open air style as it can fit more people, but by using the enclosed, it gives the guests more privacy during the picture taking process.
A special thank you to George, Chris and the crew from Herman & Luther’s for being so great to work with the entire day. Everything from the pre-planning and ceremony, to the dinner and party that followed was a moment meant for Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hummel.
I had so much fun at Frank & Kate’s wedding. Thanks so much for having me!
Here is what Kate & Frank had to say about their wedding:
“Dan was very helpful with planning our wedding reception itinerary. He was very professional throughout the whole process as well as very accommodating with follow ups etc. Would certainly recommend his services to anyone.”
